MEDION MD 10169
The lowest of them all: 22 centimetres tall, a 100-watt compressor and a litre of ice cream from 600 millilitres of mix. Removable aluminium bowl and three functions, including cold-holding when it finishes.
La que cabe donde no cabe ninguna
Twenty-two centimetres tall is less than almost any compressor ice cream maker, and that gets it onto shelves where the others do not fit. In exchange it is 100 watts and barely a litre: it chills, but in no hurry.
Our score, after reading the reviews one by one.
Fine for its size. At 100 W it is better not to fill the bowl right up if you want the temperature to drop properly.
Three functions and little else: mix, make ice cream and keep it cold.
600 ml of mix for one litre of ice cream: two or three servings.
The 22 centimetres of height and the removable aluminium bowl.
Four things you notice
in use, not on the box
How the ice cream comes out
Creamy if the recipe is well set up. It is the most modest compressor of all the ones we have had: 100 watts.
How long it really takes
MEDION quotes up to 60 minutes depending on the kind of ice cream.
Day to day
There is nothing to pre-chill. The aluminium bowl comes out whole and the cold-holding function keeps it from melting if you take your time.
Footprint
35.7 × 22 × 26 cm and 7.2 kilos: the lowest and one of the lightest with a compressor.
Compresor donde no suele caber
The problem with compressor ice cream makers is usually not the width, it is the height: they do not fit under the shelf. This one stops at 22 centimetres, and that is why it exists. What you pay is power: 100 watts and 600 millilitres of mix per batch.

What it wins and what you have to accept
- Its own compressor: no need to pre-freeze the bowl the night before
- The cheapest in the compressor range
- LCD screen with timer
- Removable steel bowl
- The one that takes least worktop space
- 135 W and 1.2 litres: the lowest rung of its brand
- It falls short as soon as you want more quantity or more flavours
- It does not make yoghurt
- The recipe booklet doesn't give balanced formulas; the recipe is up to you
Especificaciones de la MEDION MD 10169
La MEDION MD 10169 frente a sus rivales
Cecotec Gelacy 800
The same watts with slightly less bowl.
Springlane ELLI
A little more compressor and bowl, in a taller body.
Severin EZ 7407
Compact as well, with more compressor and a yoghurt programme.
H. Koenig HF320
Twice the bowl and almost twice the compressor.
Would we buy it? Only if the gap really is the deciding factor
Its reason for existing is the height: where no other one fits, this one does. If your shelf allows more, for a little more money there are 1.2 litres and 135 watts, and you notice them in every batch. And if you also want yoghurt, there are compact machines that do it.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have to pre-freeze anything?
No. It has its own compressor and starts up cold.
¿Un litro de qué?
Of ice cream already churned. The mix that goes in is 600 ml: the rest is the air it takes up while churning.
¿100 W son pocos?
It is the most modest compressor of the ones we have had. It makes ice cream, but takes longer to come down and it is better not to fill the bowl right up.
Does it make yoghurt?
No. It mixes, makes ice cream and keeps it cold.
¿Se saca la cubeta?
Sí, es de aluminio y sale entera.
Which would we buy instead?
The Springlane ELLI if it fits, for the 135 W and the 1.2 L, or the Severin EZ 7407 if you also want yoghurt.
