Review · Compressor ice cream maker
Severin EZ 7405
A two-litre stainless steel bowl, a yoghurt function with automatic chilling and the same compressor as the EZ 7406, without the second container.

The short answer
The two-litre Severin at a sensible price
Inside it plays in the same league as the ELISA: 180 watts, a two-litre bowl and a yoghurt function. And it is the same machine as the EZ 7406, only without the second container in the box, so it costs considerably less. If you are after a two-litre steel ice cream maker that also ferments yoghurt, this is the best value in the Severin family.
Ideal if you want two litres and yoghurt

Our score, after reading the reviews one by one.
How the ice cream turns out
The same approach as the ELISA: 180 W and two litres.
Ease of use
A touchscreen and a yoghurt programme with automatic chilling at the end.
Capacity
Two litres per batch, in a stainless steel bowl.
Quality and price
The sensible option in the Severin family: the same as the 7406 for considerably less.
How well it works
Four things you notice
in use, not on the box
How the ice cream comes out
Creamy at the same 180 W. Severin quotes under 30 minutes per batch.
How long it really takes
Count on a real 30 or 40 minutes depending on how full the bowl is.
Day to day
With only one container, between batches you have to empty, wash and dry the bowl.
What's included
A measuring cup, an ice cream scoop and the 2 L container.
The same machine, without the spare bowl
Lo que aporta y las demás no
The EZ 7406 and this one are the same ice cream maker: the same 180-watt compressor, the same two-litre stainless steel bowl and the same yoghurt programme, which chills on its own when fermentation ends. The difference is in the box: the 7406 comes with a second container and a recipe booklet, and that is why it costs considerably more. If you are not going to run two flavours on the same day, that spare bowl is money you will not notice.

The verdict
Would we buy it? Yes: it is the Severin that makes sense to buy
It is the same machine as the EZ 7406 — same compressor, same two-litre bowl, same yoghurt programme — and it costs considerably less because it does not come with the second container. Unless you are going to make two flavours the same day without stopping to wash up, that extra bowl does not justify the difference. With two litres of steel and real yoghurt, it is one of the most rounded buys in its bracket.

Answers to your questions
Frequently asked questions
How does it differ from the EZ 7406?
In what comes in the box. The 7406 includes a second 2 L container and a recipe booklet; inside they are the same ice cream maker, with the same 180 W compressor and the same two-litre bowl.
What does it offer against the ELISA or the Koenig?
Inside, nothing: the same 180 W, the same two litres and yoghurt as well. What changes is Severin's steel finish and the price you find it at.
Is it worth what it costs?
Yes. It is one of the few two-litre machines that also ferments yoghurt, and it shares everything with the 7406, which costs considerably more purely for the extra container.
Is the yoghurt function any use?
Yes, and it also chills on its own when fermentation ends, which is exactly what saves you having to keep an eye on it.
Do you have to pre-freeze anything?
No. It has a compressor: it chills on its own from the moment you switch it on.
Can I make two batches in a row?
Yes, but with only one container you have to empty, wash and dry it in between. If you want to run flavours back to back without waiting, the one with two bowls is the EZ 7406.
