Taurus Gelato Flow
Cheap, and with an asterisk
It works like a Ninja: you prepare the mix, freeze it in its tub and the machine works it until it is creamy. The manufacturer itself sets it out in four steps — create, freeze for 24 h, churn, enjoy. Nine programmes, three 500 ml tubs and a touch panel: it is the cheapest way into the category. Its Amazon listing announces twelve; PcComponentes and Carrefour, which sell the same product code, count nine programmes plus the Mix-In and Re-Spin functions.
The asterisk is on its Amazon listing, and we explain it below because it affects how its reviews and its capacity should be read.
Our score, after reading the reviews one by one.
Four things you notice
in use, not on the box
It works with tubs, not with a bowl
It is a frozen-block machine: the mix freezes inside its own tub, 24 hours at −16 to −20 °C, and the blade shaves it afterwards. It chills nothing while it works, so there is no bowl to put in the freezer and no waiting with the machine running.
A litre and a half, but split up
It comes with three 500 ml tubs: a litre and a half in total, and in three batches, not two and a half litres at once. The 2.5 litres people miss belong to that old machine, not to this one.
Three tubs, and here that matters
Seven hundred watts and 2,500 rpm
Its spec sheet gives 700 W y 2.500 rpm, with the InstaCream system. It is what drives the blade against the block, which is where the texture comes from: here the power is not for chilling, but for shaving.
What it does best, according to those who own one
Going back over the machine's reviews — its own, not the mixed listing's — a clear pattern appears: what convinces most are the slushes and iced drinks. Horchata, lemonade, orangeade, frappés, milkshakes. On ice cream proper there are good reviews and one that maintains it does not get there.
If what you are after is above all homemade slush, it is the cheapest that does it well according to its buyers.
What it wins and what you have to accept
- The cheapest in the category
- Three 500 ml tubs, one more than the Ninjas
- Nine programmes and a touch panel
- Slushes and iced drinks: that is what its buyers praise most
- Easy to clean, with dishwasher-safe accessories
- Its Amazon listing mixes the ratings with those of another, older machine
- It is not 2.5 L: it is three 500 ml tubs
- One buyer maintains that it does not chill enough for ice cream
- We have found no manufacturer's data sheet: power and temperature are missing
- It does not chill on its own either: the base goes into the freezer first

Would we buy it? With reservations, and knowing what you are buying
It is the cheapest in the category and comes with three tubs, which on frozen-block machines is what really sets the pace. Its buyers speak well above all of the granizados.
But its Amazon listing adds in the reviews of a different machine, the capacity it announces does not match what it comes with, and we have found no manufacturer's data sheet to clear up the doubts. The Moulinex Dolci arrives with the same three tubs and without a single one of those asterisks.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't you give its Amazon rating?
Is it 2.5 litres?
Does it chill the mix?
Is it good for ice cream or only for slush?
How powerful is it?
700 W, y 2.500 rpm of blade. Taurus publishes them on this model's listing. Here that power chills nothing, because the machine does not freeze: it goes entirely into shaving the block, which is where the texture comes from.
Is it worth it against the Moulinex?
