Review · Professional compressor ice cream maker

Cube 750

The way into the Italian professional range: a thirty-centimetre cube that makes real ice cream without taking up half the kitchen.

The short answer

The finish of the big one, half the machine

It shares the steel, the slow gearbox and the safety lid with the Cube 1500. What it does not share is the muscle: 140 watts against 440, and half the ice cream per batch. For a home it is usually enough; for stringing batches together all afternoon, it is not.

What we know about this one
4,3
out of 5

Our score. We give it for what it does and for what it shares with the 1500, which is the one we use.

What it shares with the 1500
The steel, the fixed bowl, the low-speed gearbox and the lid that stops the paddle. The approach is the same.
What it does not share
140 watts against 440 and 750 grams per batch against a kilo and a half. And it lacks the big one's drain hose, which is what makes cleaning comfortable.
Who it suits
For anyone who wants the Italian finish and the fixed bowl in an ordinary home, without needing to turn out three kilos an hour.
What we cannot tell you
How its ice cream turns out specifically. We have not had it in front of us and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
What makes it different

Four things you will not see on the spec sheet

Real steel, right down to the paddle

Body, bowl and paddle in polished stainless steel, handmade in Italy. It is not a plastic shell with a metal bowl inside: it is steel from top to bottom.

Thirty centimetres a side

It is a perfect cube and takes up less room than many two-litre domestic machines. If space is your limit, this format works in your favour.

The lid cuts off the paddle

Safety device as standard, just as on the big one. Lift the lid and it stops, so you can check on the batch without switching the machine off.

The paddle scrapes the bowl wall

It scrapes the ice cream off the wall as it freezes. In a domestic machine that layer stays stuck and never gets mixed back in: ice cream you lose and a texture that never arrives.

The key to the flavour

The same slow gearbox as the big one

The paddle turns slowly on purpose: less air worked in, less overrun and more concentrated flavour in every spoonful. It is the same idea as on the Cube 1500, applied to half the batch.

The balance

What it gains
and what you have to accept

The best of it
  • A kilo and a half of ice cream an hour, stringing batches together with no cooling stop
  • Polished stainless steel on the body, the bowl and the paddle
  • Low-speed paddle: less air inside and more flavour per spoonful
  • The lid stops the paddle, with a safety device as standard
  • Thirty centimetres a side: it takes up less room than many two-litre domestic machines
  • Sixteen kilos, eight less than its big sister
What you have to accept
  • We have not used it: we cannot speak about this one first-hand
  • Outside the Amazon circuit: no thirty-day returns and no price comparison
  • 140 watts: for stringing batches together all afternoon it falls short against the 1500
  • It is still expensive for what it does if you compare it with a domestic machine
  • It has no drain hose: to clean it you have to empty the bowl by hand, and the 1500 does have one

The verdict

Would we buy it?
We went for the big one

If space is what decides and you do not need to produce in quantity, the 750 gives the same Italian finish and the same way of working in a thirty-centimetre cube. If you are going to string batches together, the power difference against the 1500 shows, and that was exactly why we kept the big one.

Answers to your questions

Frequently asked questions

Where do you buy it?

Amazon does not sell it. There is no purchase or affiliate link on this page: this is an analysis, not a shop window.

What does it lack against the 1500?

Muscle. It shares the steel, the slow gearbox and the safety lid, but stops at 140 watts and 750-gram batches.

How many people does it serve?

For two or three people it is more than enough. For a family meal it falls short and you will have to string batches together.

How long does a batch take?

Between 20 and 35 minutes, the same as its big sister: what changes is how much ice cream comes out of each.

How much room does it take?

A cube 30 cm on each side and 16 kg. It is the professional machine that asks for the least space without ceasing to be professional.

It plugs into a normal domestic socket: 220 V and 1.5 A, with no special installation.

Have you tried it?

Not this one. We have the Cube 1500 and it is that one we speak about from experience; of the 750 we report what its spec sheet says and what it shares with its big sister.
